Anna Tydd

Director & Founder

Anna Tydd is a highly experienced restorative facilitator, solicitor and policy advisor with a deep commitment to understanding and mitigating factors that enable harm and conflict to occur in organisations. Her career has been devoted to the prevention of harm to children and adults and the provision of a compassionate and just response to those who have been harmed. Anna, throughout her career, has worked with members of organisations and communities who are survivors of institutional and familial harm. Anna has consistently adopted a trauma informed and survivor-centred approach in her professional work.

Since 2005, Anna has worked in administrative law as a senior solicitor and policy advisor on three governmental inquiries in relation to abuse occurring in institutional contexts, two of which have been Royal Commissions (Australia and Aotearoa, New Zealand) together with the Murphy Inquiry (Dublin, Ireland). Anna has also held national executive roles in relation to safeguarding and responses to those harmed in institutional contexts.

Anna is a passionately committed to the development and adoption of restorative practice within organisations in response to reports and disclosures of harm or significant conflict that meets two main accountability objectives:

  • To assess, understand and mitigate risk of further harm to the person harmed and others.

  • To offer a trauma-informed and survivor-centred restorative processes facilitated by independent and skilled practitioners.

Anna understands that formal complaints and investigative processes often fail to meet the needs of the people involved. Through a facilitated and structured process (which can take many different forms) restorative practice allows those people most effected by harm or conflict to determine the nature and structure of a response that meets their needs, whilst ensuring that all relevant legislative and regulatory obligations are met.

Education and training has also been key components in each of Anna’s senior advisory safeguarding roles. She has developed a keen commitment and capacity to engage sensitively, compassionately, and effectively with others to effect meaningful education and institutional reform.

Anna is wanting to continue to expand upon and further develop the many professional skills and knowledge she has obtained throughout her career to date. She also wants to continue her commitment to assisting survivors and other members of the community, both with respect to the prevention of harm and ensuring a just and supportive environment for those who disclose or report harm.
